Jaguar Bridge Sinking

Post by jgpouton » Sat Sep 25, 2021 8:12 am

Hi,

I have a Squier CV Jaguar and the bridge does not remain where I adjust it. After 15 minutes of playing it sinks into the body. It's a Mustang style bridge. What can I do? Thank you.

Thank you.

But the thread will be locked after that. What if I want to change the bridge height later on?

Blue loctite (242/243) is medium strength and can be released with regular tools. It's what most people use. If you're worried buy the weaker 222. Either way, just don't buy the superglue, which comes in somewhat similar packaging.

Ok thank you I understand.

I suppose you just have to put one drop of Loctite on the threads. Could you please explain and tell me what to avoid?

Buy a StayTrem or Mastery Bridge. This is pretty expensive for a squire guitar, but if you ever get a Fender you. Can put the old bridge back and move the staytrem over to the Fender.

The bridge you have is pathetic design. I have a PhD in design and am a Chartered Ergonomics and Human Factors specialist. How anyone can design , sign off, and manufacturer that useless bridge is beyond me. The screws are too long, the front tray is too high, and nothing stays in place without glue. Fender should be ashamed. But I guess they keep them to make their expensive guitars look better.

With the Loctite, you can still adjust the bridge height to suit after restringing. One might think breaking the bond would revert the bridge to the original problem of sinking but there is still enough friction in the threads to stay put.

I have the same guitar and get along fine with the bridge as is with a couple of drops of Loctite. I suppose that designers of Formula 1 racing cars pull their hair out when the mechanics reach for the Loctite.

Yes one drop will do on the screws. Instructions on the bottle/tube ...
