Righteous Sound Pickups 1991 Gazing VS Stonewall Pickups Alternate Dimension Signature

Post by Iffymiffy » Sat Jan 15, 2022 12:31 am

Looking for something Jazzmastery yet “different” for Indie/Shoegaze, can’t find a lot of info on both of these interesting pickup sets and was wondering if anyone here would be kind enough to share any experience they may have had with them:

Righteous Sound Pickups “1991 Gazing” Set

https://www.righteoussoundpickups.com/ ... ster-mount

Stonewall Pickups “Alternate Dimension Signature” Set

https://www.stonewallpickups.com/store ... p373539503

Am also considering a Kinman Thickmaster set too as apparently J Mascis uses them but I can’t really find much demos or user experiences.

Any suggestions for alternatives are much welcome too :)

I think Larrymal had some of the Kinman Thickmaster pickups. Maybe you can find the thread.

No experience with the others. Man, they’re expensive though

Thanks for that will search for it, yeah they are pricey but I guess lollars and novaks are the same or even more for a set?

They are fantastic pickups. Good dynamic range, good note separation, noiseless, powerful, just all around winners. I thought they would be crunch machines or something. But they are very versatile.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Thanks for the reply Larry! I am trying to get down to one electric guitar so don’t mind investing a bit more in a good set of versatile JM pickups!

Do you think these retain the signature JM sound? And how do you feel they play with fuzz? Also I did read that there isnt much difference when switching between the neck and bridge, do you find that true?
