Re: CBS era JM headstock shape?
Hmm, odd. I just measured the distance between the tuners. I get virtually identical measurements from the '64 and the '69 (126 vs 127 mm, from caudal edge of low E post to cranial edge of high E post). I thought maybe a difference in spacing would explain the discrepancy with the overlay picture (the JM and CBS headstocks perhaps being scaled slightly differently), but it doesn't. From what year was the JM used for the red outline, does anyone know?

BTW, there seems to be quite a large difference between the "ball" of the headstock between the CBS JM and the Squier. The other measurements match up quite closely, but the ball on the Squier seems much smaller. Could be cool to compare this with a genuine CBS strat headstock.
