I have the same problem with different strings. My A is crazy loud and contains an insane amount of harmonics. The B is generally piercing but the high e is better. The D is soft and the G is about the same as the low E. (Wound G, .014 - .060.)

Why the FUCK don't ALL pickups come with magnets that are threaded so we can all adjust to get the perfect balance?!?!! I read about other pickups with this and it makes me grind my teeth.

I wonder if there are any pickup makers who could make jag pickups with adjustable pole pieces?

Eyguitars has their Eric Custom Jag90 pickup which has adjustable poles, but I wonder if any other builder who does any sort wide range pickup with adjustable poles could just put those in a jaguar format.

This line here makes me feel that this isn't your usual brand besides the gauge.

What brand are those 10-46 and 10-52 sets you're used to?
You are correct.
I'm used to D'Addario and Ernie Ball sets, almost always 10-52.

According to Pyramid, the wound strings in the green pack actually have an even thinner core to make them more flexible. So yeah, it makes perfect sense that this is what I'm hearing. I think I'm going to try their regular nickel round wound set (same gauge, blue pack) and see what that does.
If that does the same thing, as an experiment, grab yourself a set of D'Addario EXL115 11-49 to see what happens with those.
Using the blue pack now. Same thing. I've contacted Pyramid, and they kindly offered to send me a wound g-string. Will try the EXL115 set next.

The EXL115W set that MattK recommends definitely gets my vote too - have them on my jag, JM and Rickenbacker 360.

On a Jazzmaster? No, I haven’t.

10-46 is the lightest gauge I‘m comfortable with. (On any electric guitar really.)

i don't play very hard so maybe that is why i like the skinny strings. good for bends

good luck finding a fix :)

Thanks! I’m trying something similar now. Using the 11-48 Pyramids with the wound 020 they sent. It takes some getting used to, but the volume imbalance is gone. Max Junger from Pyramid tells me that these wound 20s will wear out faster. Is that something you guys have noticed?

Nope, never noticed and been using a wound G for as long as I can remember.
