That ringing behind the bridge is a part of the Jaguar or Jazzmaster tone as Leo Fender intended it. And, in my opinion, a large part of what makes these guitars great. Whenever I see someone with a Buzzstop I cringe and can't take them seriously.

When I've wanted to mute behind the bridge for recording purposes, I've used the foam that you buy as a replacement for the jaguar mute. I leave the white paper on, so that the adhesive is not exposed. Then slide this under the strings on top of the vibrato system, push it towards the ball ends until snug. Totally reversible, and got spare mute foam for whenever it's needed

Here's a pic the heat shrink tubing method that I use:
https://ibb.co/ZVvVTBg
Note that I've gradually scaled back over time and only do this on the G, B, and E strings, because I find that it has a negative effect on the acoustic resonance of the strings (which I find important for whatever reason). I currently use very little on the G, a little more on the B, and the length that's pictured on the E. This gets rid of all ringing for me, but this will depend heavily on your tremolo positioning (vintage vs modern), your bridge height, and probably your string gauge. It's also visually very unobtrusive.

Re: Reduce ringing behind the bridge?
I was playing my Jaguar Player last night on headphones as I'm away in a hotel with work. I realised that I could hear a kind of 'reverb' to the sound. Since my Vox MV50AC doesn't have reverb I realised it must be the strings ringing as per this thread. I don't mind it and it's just a bit of the character of these guitars, but it does confirm that it can be heard through an amp because my headphones muffle the acoustic sound of the strings so I can't really hear the ringing if I wear the 'phones and turn the amp down.
I'm using 11s FWIW, but I haven't shimmed the neck.

Re: Reduce ringing behind the bridge?
I had a problem with a ringing G-string at the headstock of a Telecaster. I weaved a piece of yarn between the strings and it worked perfectly!
Just a variation of the foam, velcro and hair tie solutions.
