How to add second tone pot to jazzmaster for independent control of pickup tone
I really want to get more tone control out of my single tone control jazzmaster can anyone assist me?

So you just want to add a third pot to the lead circuit ?
If so, first disconnect the existing master tone pot from the circuit (see stock schematic below). The two tone pots would then go between their pickup and the selector switch, similar to the 2-tone, 1-vol wiring here:

So the lead circuit for each pickup will be pickup->tone pot->selector switch->master volume.
Standard JM circuit schematic:

I added another pot between the jack and tone pot.
