Angled Wood Shims On Sale
Wood Shims
I think Stew Mac buys these from China and has their name put on. I just bought TWO sets of these for $16.99 each. Stew Mac charges $36 a set and then gouges you with $12 shipping and tax.

A bit cheaper here directly from China, which is most likely what the Amazon seller is doing, drop-shipping them.

With those Tosicam (Amazon) and Muspor (aliexpress) branded wooden shims, SM's monopoly is seemingly broken. There are also unbranded ones that may be the same too ...

Amazon UK have about 10+ versions available, all are about £14-16 a set. I don't like resorting to Bezos but that's 1/3 of the price of a set landed from SM (of which over half is their insane shipping costs). Stewmac have a horrible monopoly on a lot of things.

Does this new-found access to cheap shims mean I have to abandon my decades-old technique of putting a plectrum or Pokémon card in the neck pocket?

Guys, they are even cheaper at ebay!
Shims
Starting from 7 up to 16 bucks for the 3 piece set.
Don‘t buy from Amazon if you don‘t have to!

I've had bad luck with items coming from china in the last year so i'm hesitant. The feedback ratings of some of these sellers aren't great either. I don't mind paying $17 for a set compared to $50 shipped after taxes from Stew Mac.

Anyway, I just got mine. I'll start by saying I'd be FUCKING Pissed if I paid the stew mac price. These things are cheap AF.
I already broke one. Anyway, if you're planning to use the 1 degree shim for your Squier Bass VI, you'll need to modify it to work in the right spot (against the back of the pocket). It has a longer pocket than a guitar even though the neck plate is the same, just like a full scale Bass, etc. You'll most likely break it if you don't take your time to add new holes for the screws. At least my Squier VI plays great now with my Staytrem bridge installed.

Re: Angled Wood Shims On Sale
the one from that guitar shop of the original post, i had to trim down, but after the late postage issues i was determined and it was strong enough to use scissors haha. It seemed too square and it still slightly recesses so i could do better with trimming it. I may have rather used these eBay ones. I have a Warmoth body and neck, but afaik shouldn't be different- maybe these were Tele ones? However the guitar seems improved with it. I am pretty sure there was that curve on the high frets causing buzz, even though it was only two thin business cards stacked before.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 1:49 pmthat's the worst toan!

p.s. A jigglypuff card can mellow out those TOANZ well
