They look nice but spendy.

But I guess everything is - I just priced up an equivalent 'set' of the Stew Mac ones that I have and it came to $107.94. I paid $77.70 back in 2010...

Music Nomad makes an interesting set with handles.

I don't think I'd want them with handles like that personally.

The uo chikyu nut files are a little cheaper and very good if all be it I wish it had handles. Hosco makes a handled set too that is equally pretty nice from what I've used.

I'm pretty sure the Hosco ones and the Ibanez ones are the same, just a different color. You can get individual ones at Phil. Luthier Supply

In other news, I just ordered a stew mac z crowning file.

I'm still unsure as to what nut files to buy. The handles on the nomad seem handy to me specially for the thinner ones.

whoa big spender! I like those but damn.

I have used the .012/.020 file in This Set for years for my plain strings. But the last two nuts i did for myself are kinda shit on the E & B strings so it's time to upgrade. I'm gonna get the Hosco ones I think.

You should buy a B from nomad and see how you like it, if good I'll buy the set and you buy the extra high E :D

What do you got against the Bob the builder look?

The hosco ones with the handle look good. I'm leaning towards those.

I use them every day in my shop and I love them. Much prefer them over the StewMac files. Diamond grit, round bottom, come in more gauges, etc.

You can pop the handle off to get into tight spaces too. I DO kind of wish they made a longer alternative handle, but they do not at the moment.

I use the Music Nomad files once every month or two, and they get the job done without any major downsides. How well do they work against higher priced files? Fortunately, I have no idea! :)

I bought them after watching a seemingly unbiased review from Driftwood Guitars (it was a comparison between those and Stewmac files). They pointed out many times why the Stewmac ones were better for them. I just went and rewatched the end of the video, and their take was "if you're a hobbyist and you're not making much money doing this, then buy these Music Nomad ones and you're not going to be disappointed". And since that's exactly my situation, they fit the bill.
