The Missing Flat Spring Washer

Post by kidcarbon » Fri Mar 22, 2024 9:20 am

Hello All,

I have an American JM tremolo ready for reassembly. In looking at Leo’s patent document there was a “flat spring”(44) washer located under the button(43) on the original sketch.

I have never seen one of these spring washers included on an instrument with these tremolos.

Did this spring washer ever make it onto a production tremolo?

Has anyone added it themselves?

I would imagine it would prevent the button & stop from rattling around in the non-operative position.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm pretty sure every American trem I have came with the spring washer.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Hi Tammie,

I suppose I just never noticed it on any other instrument I’ve owned and I have clearly misplaced the washer that went with this tremolo.

Thank you
