I'm wiring a guitar with this diagram:
It's basically a Jazzmaster diagram but with the rhythm circuit applicable to all pickup positions rather than just the neck. I've used it before and I know it works.
I'm also using a 4-way rotary switch allowing for each pickup on its own as well ass series and parallel combinations, and a phase switch on the bridge pickup. All of this works fine so I don't believe the problem lies here. I'm also using a 100k pot for the rhythm circuit's tone control per my preference.
The problem is that, on the rhythm circuit, the volume control, going from 10 to zero, drops volume only about halfway down its travel before coming back up. The tone control also doesn't work properly.
From the searching I've done the most common solution here seems to be a lack of a ground connection from the volume pot lug that the tone cap is connected to, but I have that grounded to the back of the volume pot.
I'm also using Jag-style metal plates, and I have a bit of heat shrink between the rhythm circuit bracket and the plate as there was some wobble there. Not sure if that's relevant.
I've tried this with two different sets of pots and two different rhythm circuit switches, so I don't think that's the issue, either.
Any help you could provide to my sanity would be appreciated. Thank you!
