I've been having some issues with the bridge pickup signal dropping. Turning the bridge and strangle switch on/off seems to remedy it but it's annoying nonetheless. I opened up the selector cavity to see if there was any visual issue and noticed the black (ground wire) is loose inside. The wire has a ring on it so I presume to goes around a screw to be kept in place, likely the selector plate itself. However, there is not enough space to do this, the selector is snug with the body.
Any ideas? Can the wire be loose inside the cavity?

It doesn’t matter really where it goes. Once it touches the plate or any of the screws, everything else that touches the plate is going to be grounded. Just unscrew one side of the middle switch and try to orient the ring in a way that fits (e.g completely sideways). You can even bend it to a right angle at the ring if necessary. Attached is better than floating around and causing occasional shorts
That being said, it may not be the source of your problems.

This is where I've seen it on pretty much every MIJ Jag I've dismantled over the years. Which is about 15 Jaguarsandy_tchp wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 4:38 pmFrom this thread that appears to be where it goes:
