That is cool.

Not sure if it fits their T-Armond. That would excellent.

My worry is that the standard Jazzmaster routing is too shallow to properly house a Filtertron without deeper routing - especially in the Bridge position. But maybe I‘m wrong…

I was thinking the same thing.

Unless I’m missing something, it should fit fine. I looked at the dimensions of the pickup and it’s pretty close to a JM pickup cover’s height.

Just went to their site because of this and noticed they now do a Jazzmaster pickup, it looks like they are using the T’Armond type magnets:

TV Jones Starwood Jazzmaster Pickup

- Starwood Jazzmaster Guitar Pickup -

The Starwood line combines a classic TV Jones tone in a traditional shape. Available in Black, White and Parchment.

- Tone/Characteristics -

Bridge has a thick glitter tone with beefy bottom end, while the neck is full bodied with clarity

- Output/Power/Position -

Bridge: DCR - 12.75k / Inductance - 5.58H -- Neck: DCR - 9.10k / Inductance - 3.95H

One of the biggest enigmas of tinkering with guitars: no matter how many different minihumbucker / Firebird / Gretsch etc. pickup rings you have in your parts box, none of them will fit the guitar and/or pickup you just bought.

Anyway, those covers do look convenient, but not very elegant; they just have this whiff of couldn't be bothered to do it right.

I’d be interested in seeing what the wire on the windings look like.

I‘m pro getting a pickguard that fits Firebirds instead of using an adapter (but I also don‘t like wildly mismatched pickups). If you want a Firebird kinda sound in a Jazzmaster…you could always take a Thunderbird pickup. These seem to be a pretty good fit - and if I understand Novak‘s mounting approach - it‘s „just“ a JM cover shaped baseplate (along with an excellent pickup of course).

Those Starwood pickups on the other hand do look interesting!
