Custom Jazzmaster neck...
I'm contemplating having a neck made up, instead of waiting years for a '59 neck to turn up. I've seen a Jaguar on this forum (blonde with a Tortoise pickguard) that has Mother of Pearl inlays on the fretboard. Did they do this for Jazzmasters?? Anyone got any pictures of MOP necks?? Is it more worth my while waiting for the right '59 neck to turn up. I aint selling. I just want the right neck.

You mean the block inlays? Yes, they were standard on Jazzmasters from mid '66 onwards.jazzheadmark wrote: Mother of Pearl inlays on the fretboard. Did they do this for Jazzmasters??

Yep .. like this '68 neck, if that's what you're referring to:
Period-correct features for a '59 neck would be clay dots with no binding, and a pencil date (or no date) on the neck heel. This isn't the best-aimed picture but you get the idea:

Yeah. I, unfortunately, don't have the right neck (not even close actually). I'm gonna wait a month or two to see if one comes up but, if not, I think I'll get one made up, & more to the point, how I like it. Did they make necks like that but without the binding? I think thats what I'd go for.
I'm liking the blue fur in the case by the way.

Blocks without binding? No, I don't think so.
The fur is actually grey .. the camera was having a strange day that day for some reason.
