Nice work, I also enjoy your youtube channel very much. You get great tones out of all you JMs and I love the music you choose to play for your demos.

As to the pickups, I'm shocked how well the stock Japanese stack up to all the high dollar options.

Thanks,
Good thought, we had to remember that the masterpiece of a guitar' sound is the wood, the pickup is just an amplification system.

First of all Green angel thanks for doing these demos. I really appreciate it. Here's some more Jazzmaster pickup demos from manufactures that were missed or without audio:

Jess Loureiro(I think these sound really nice):

Interesting. Specially the low end of that market has changed quite a bit. The Pickup Wizards seem to have nearly doubled in price, raised above Barfuss and Duncan Antiquities :o If I ever need to sell mine that's fine if they keep up their reputation. ;) Anyone ever tried these Jess loureiro things? Where are they from, and what are they made of? That's a price that screams China, but he says the opposite on his homepage.

I found that one member of the forum bought the Jess loureiro pickups:

viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37877&p=580557&hili ... ro#p580557" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I will send an email to this guy and also another to Jess asking about the quality. He is from Spain (like me).
He also have great reviews on ebay:

http://feedback.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... llFeedback" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If the forum member said that they sound good and that they are the real thing I will give it a try :)

The "surf" set sounds really nice in the sound samples

Absolutely, good recordings. Thing is, I prefer a demo to be as plain as possible. I could tell about the quality of the player and the reverb after that demo, but not really the pickups, somehow. But at this price, if the stuff is decent, it's nearly a must try. I also see no reason to buy stuff from China or Duncan anymore when there are small builders that offer great prices. Sadly sooner or later they all seem to find that they need to raise prices, as they maybe just not sell the numbers they were hoping for. The uninformed buyer sticks to mass products like Seymour Duncan or Fender pickups, and the nerds tend to spend mor money on Novaks, Lollars and the like. So the only way to stay in business sometimes seems to be to raise the prices so that they are taken serious by the nerds ... and gain more reputation for your product that way.

FYI, the Manlius pickups sound much better than that demo would suggest. Plus Mick, the builder, is a great guy and his turnaround times are amazing.

After listening to a bunch side by side, every time I listened to the Novaks, the bass rattled something on my desk at work. None of the others did that. Could hardly hear the bass in the japanese pickups. I'm most impressed with the Novak pickups. Lollar's were good too. So were antiquities I guess. AVRI's were good, but I could definitely hear the difference between the AVRI's and the Novak, Lollar, etc.

Thanks Green Angel, I too really appreciate all the hard work that went into this demo.

Thought i'd add to this sticky here. Just recently converted from a set of Antiquity II's which I loved to Novak JM-V's...the differences between the two are slight, still, both are very authentic. Borrowed Green Angel's format here, although with a different guitar + amp. the soundclips are below, so you be the judge of which set's best for your needs!

Guitar:
