That's really weird, there's no gaps in between the saddles, the saddles look like the ones on original US Mustangs.

Then if you look on the Allparts site, the pictures of their bridges have huge gaps in between the saddles.

The string tension forces them together a bit.

The only European places I know about are Allparts UK and WD UK, but they are very expensive.

There's also Rockinger, but no Mustang stuff, only the Jaz/Jazzmaster bridge and vibrato assembly, ok prices though.

Just a question:

did all the original issue Jags have the wider rounder thing around the hole for adjusting the screws like this:


or did the late 60s and 1970s models have a base which looks somewhat like a Japanese one (the pic is of a 1972, I've seen it on other later Jags, don't know if it's original)?

Are you talking about the "domes" on the bridge plate?  All the 60's vintage ones had that.

I don't know about the 70's ones.

Shimming the neck to allow more bridge adjustment:



Note that it doesn't affect the action as such, it just allows you to lower the bridge further if it's too close to the pickguard/mute.

Can I put a mustang bridge on my thin skin Jag ?

I assume no because of teh different radius (7.5 I think on normal Jaguars vs 9.5 fret radius on the thin skin Jags) ? 

also is there a guide on how to set up the mute

3rd thing can the truss rod be ajusted without removing the neck. There seems to be a semicircle cut out of the Pickguard on the screw ?

You could use the warmoth modified mustang bridge that allows you to adjust the height of the saddles still.  You could also replace with Graphtech's which are shaped like a mustang saddle but all individually adjustable.  Or you could simply threadlock up your standard JM bridge so that the screws don't adjust themselves and/or rattle around.

Not sure if there's a guide on the mute but Sookwinder here has a plethora of Jaguars old and new and can provide some information on that possibly.  I just set mine so that it touched the strings lightly but not too lightly when flipped into position and got plenty far away when flipped out.

You'll want to remove the neck to adjust the truss.  Sometimes you can manage without but it's really not a good idea as it will likely gouge the guard and the bolt/screw thingy.  You always want to back out the tension of the string when doing a truss adjust anyway so you might as well just unscrew it at that point to avoid doing any damage.

I didn't even know these bridges exist. Are the warmoth or graphtech bridges lower themselfs too ?

I think i'm going to start messing around with the trem on my jazz again. I noticed a year ago when I installed a mustang bridge that after about a week of playing guitar while using the trem one side of the bridge posts started to lower itself. How do I fix this, and does it only happen with the Mustang bridge?

Loctite on the overall height adjustment screws.  There are tons of threads on the use of Loctite if you try a search.
