More Gold Anodized Nonsense

really, thanks.  i was thinking of it because i think it's my only option for getting a 9 hole.  maybe i'll have them cut and prep one and then try to have it anodized here localy or something.  i have a friend who is a sculptor, and he does has a lot of powdercoating and anodizing done.  i bet it would be expensive though to just take them a single piece.  apparently my search continues...

the sharp guard i linked to is a gold anodized.  the guy at sharp said their gold anodizing is darker than the old fender gold anodizing.  he said theirs is more of a true gold, whereas the old fender gold was a "light wash" that they can't duplicate.  you'd think someone could....  anyway, the sharp guards on ebay don't look that much darker than the fender guards that GPR has been selling on ebay.  but they both do look darker than the original fender stuff. 

i have a sharpconcepts gold guard. DON´T GET ONE! they look like crap. the color is not even close to gold. dull orange/beige is more like it.

Could you provide a picture? They might've changed forumlas or something since.

i don´t think they´ve changed the fomula. the strat guard on ebay looks like mine, and that´s supposedly a new one.

no it´s not subjective. they really don´t look like gold.

also, monitors differ colourwise, but mine is pretty good at colours I think and I'd say that's gold still

it´s not just that it´s darker. it´s totally matte. no shine, no gloss, just orange.

Ah, I see. I think I'd still like it, but it wouldn't look anywhere near vintage correct. Do you still have your old one? Does it fit America or Japan?

i´m afraid i´ve ruined it. in an attempt go get more shine i tried wet sanding it, hoping the aluminum would start to shine through, thus also giving it a lighter color. but it didn´t look any better, plus i overdid it in a few spots, so i just removed all of the anodizing on the front. so now it´s just bare aluminum. but the "gold" is still intact on the back.

mine was made with my CIJ guard as template.

I concur also that they look crap. I had a powder coated one made by Sharps a year or two ago.... also I ordered MIA and got MIJ.... after 6 weeks
