I stopped using strap locks a long time ago- they make it harder to prop your guitar up against your amp, and the extra leverage tends to strip out the wood.

Scott from the late, lamented Grifters taught me a trick a while back. Get yourself a two-pack of Grolsch beer with the flip up caps. Drink beer, and then use the red rubber gaskets over the standard strap buttons. Costs less than strap locks, holds the strap in quite securely, and comes with free beer.
