That is looking awesome. I know MJT has gotten some bad press, but I have... a lot.... of MJT bodies and I have loved them all. I have one being made for me now that should turn out really cool when they are done.
I LOVE that deeper red. Lovely.
Thanks man! Yes, I was initially hesitant, but so far I’m glad I chose them. I think the main thing here has been the very detailed message correspondence on my end. I was very specific with everything. I do wish I could’ve gotten to see the LPB undercoat prior to their red application. They reported that they were just bogged down and forgot to snap a pic. No big deal. Maybe I’ll see it one day.
What do you have in the works, HNB?

That concept reminds me of the Telemaster version I put together.

Updates soon. Currently awaiting some different photos of the headstock. As the ones that were sent, it appears that the headstock may be a bit darker than the body and not fully match.
I’m hoping this is just lighting. If not, it looks like the project will take a bit longer sad to say

Headstock is okay for me.
Here is the wet sanded product. Will probably be 2-3 more weeks until finished and back in my hands.

Looks great to me. When it is on the guitar, the distance will make any difference unnoticeable most likely.

Okay, so it’s been a bit. Right now, MJT is telling me they’re at the building process starting this week and it should be finished in a few days. They’ve slowed down considerably on my project and that leads me to believe that their business is doing good with all those stim check projects coming in. I don’t blame people for that. It’s been a weird year and people need to let loose. Lots of cool guitars being made during this time. Was hoping to get it this weekend to play the first show I’ve had in a while. I’m now on the edge of my seat awaiting the final product. Nevertheless, it’s a time in my life where I’m trying to have better patience. Kids are also helping with that!. Hopefully we see what it becomes in a few days.

They’re also letting bodies cure longer now.

I’m sure that’s for finish integrity in the short term? Also, is that first hand info?

I think it’s so they can buff out the micro scratches better so people quit bitching. Yes, they told me that.
(Not that you’re bitching)

That's a great colour. Glad it's turning out the way you were hoping for! I'm hoping MJT can earn back my trust if they improve durability and QC. I've been happy with them in the past and hope to use them again some day.

I have to say, I'm kinda burnt out on run-of-the-mill telemasters, but that's just plain gorgeous. And funnily enough, I almost always prefer the look of covered telecaster pickups, but the black neck pickup is just what that guitar needed. That's just a great build.
