I watched a Lydia sell on eBay in white, jumped out of my comfort zone in the last hour and I didn’t bid
but I’m going to get one to try out.
I think it is going to be really cool. :) Definitely worth giving a try. :) Pickguardian makes their pickguards for this model so you can get any material they use. :)

I like them a lot. They came with my Gold MJT Jazzmaster and I changed them out for traditional Strat style knobs. I saved these knowing I wanted to use them on a less traditional body style. I wasn't sure if they would work with this project, but I think they work great for my theme. Still subtle, but all Joker colors. :) It is hard to imagine these things for me sometimes. I normally need to wait and then start mocking up. :) I had also ordered red strat knobs as a possibility, but I will save those for something else.

I did some different dying and staining on the neck that came in. It went darker than I was planning, but I still think it looks pretty cool. Will work well for this guitar I think.

I did my first coat of Tung Oil on the necks. I don't do a ton of coats. I prefer a thin smooth finish where the neck still feels like wood, but is sealed so moisture won't impact it. Since I started doing my own necks, the only factory necks I have really enjoyed are the satin type ones on the cheaper lines (oddly) and Danocaster's necks. I don't like how thickly painted bodies and necks feel. They have an artificial plastic feel to me. I prefer to still have the feel of wood. :) Anyways, here are pictures. :)

Tuners came and I got the neck mounted. :D .025% shim to help clear the p90's. :)

The purple burst on the finished guitar does look pretty great! Nice job :)

One thing that might be worth considering: I find that 3-ply pickguards often work better than single-ply because there's a contrasting color at the edge of the pickguard to separate two potentially loud colors (e.g. candy apple red and tortoise). If this were my guitar, I think I'd try my hand at either painting the edges of the green pickguard white, or doing a white pinstripe a few millimeters in from the edge for some contrast. I know you're probably done with this and quite happy, but I thought that might make it pop just a bit more.

Again, very nice job, and you converted me on this one.

Good suggestions. When I ordered the guard from Pickguardian, I didn't realize that it would be one ply. I don't mind it too much, but I agree that a three ply mint or something similar would give a nice definition to the edge. :)

What a cool and unusual finish choice! I never would have thought it would look as good as it does!

Thanks! One of the bushings was loose. Since I am sort of OCD about that sort of thing, I ordered modern tuners to replace the Kluson style one. :)
