It’s more inspired by the original J Mascis Jazzmaster, with my own twists, but I won’t deny that it has some definite Prince vibes.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 4:50 pmSacré...violet
That's amazing.
Tort binding, very purple. I'm just realizing how Prince inspired this guitar is.

The "Steel Reinforced Neck" of 60's Teiscos seems to be a U-channel of aluminum.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 4:48 pmYou're gonna need to give us more than this. What's going on here? Is it an all metal reinforcement beam with a truss rod inside? Are you just going after the anchor?
The truss rod was brazed into an anchor, and the braze joint failed. I fabricated a new anchor, and threaded it, and also threaded that end of the truss rod to make a new anchor point, as brazing in place is not really an option. In order to get the truss rod to thread into the new anchor, I needed some room to manipulate the truss end proximate the new anchor. In order to get some access, I milled a slot into the aluminum U-channel, and that is the photo you are seeing. I hope that is clear!

You'd need to be careful that, if turned with the single screw hole pointed at the headstock, you wouldn't be drilling and screwing into the truss rod.

Wow, nice work. Even got an X-ray. It's interesting to see the level of care and energy that goes into restoring/repairing these guitars versus the what went into making them to begin with. Case of point is that channel rout and how hairy it got at the end. As we realize that we need to stop expecting the earth to cough up so many resources, this attitude needs to become more common. I just wonder at the literal 10,000,000's of cheap guitars being made annually now and whether they'll receive the same level of care. This guitar could have so readily wound up on the wall of an Applebee's.Maker wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 8:32 amHere is the thread I started on TGP that has lot's of pics:

A fate worse than landfill...This guitar could have so readily wound up on the wall of an Applebee's.

CHASSIS CAME IN! Lol...just wrapped this one up. Balls BL-100. Basically an early Blonde circuit Fender Showman, but just the normal channel and with an added PPIMV. Sort of the holy grail amp for your Dick Dale worshipers out there.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 7:33 amAll the parts for a modified Blonde Showman build except arguably the most important part: THE CHASSIS.

I work very part time at DiPinto in the showroom, but I do this off site. I do some work directly for DiPinto, like this one, he also sends work my way and I frequently sell my guitars I’ve built there.seenoevil II wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 11:01 amI was literally just gonna ask if you were doing all this at DiPinto.Lost In Autumn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:57 amBrand new DiPinto Galaxie II for some lucky bastard.

All the more impressive that that is your personal set up! You get some awesome results. Do you have like a brand for yourself? A website or an IG I can follow?Lost In Autumn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 11:09 amI work very part time at DiPinto in the showroom, but I do this off site. Also, what's going on with that thing in the background. It looks like a box full of sides? Very intriguing.

Do you guys have a spray booth at the workspace? I’m sorely lacking in that area.Lost In Autumn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 5:57 amBrand new DiPinto Galaxie II for some lucky bastard.
