I got to aging the other metal parts yesterday and today. I took them apart so the functional parts weren't messed with. Just the bits that show.

The nickel stuff aged super easily. The chrome tremolo and neckplate were pretty bullet proof. I even painted acid straight on to it with little effect. I had to submerge the parts in hydrochloric acid for several hours to make a dent in the finish. I am really happy with their look now though. Should look great with the body.

The body arrived and I am pretty excited. Also the wood knobs came in. I can't wait to get working on it.

The neck and tremolo in place. (LOOKS GOOD)

The custom knobs I ordered for it.

It has amazing physical texture.

It is going to be dual humbucker. :) (No the bridge isn't upside down... it is a neck pickup in the bridge position.)

Wow, they look great together. What colour pickguard are you going with?

I missed this thread when it first posted. Love the body. I have an affinity for red/black bodies, regardless of the shape and I can only say: Wow. Thank you for posting.

Long time no update. Smalltownsongs sent me a pickguard and some other parts so I went ahead and put the neck on it. It isn't wired yet, but I have the pots and pickups loaded in. I need different knobs. The wood ones are too small. :( It is coming together!

Are you still going to try and rust the pickguard? That’s still one of the most amazing bodies I’ve ever seen. I love what you’re doing with this build. When you say the knobs were too small, do you mean the diameter inside or do you just mean physically they look too small on the body? Nice work, man! 8)

And, hear me out on this, wouldn’t it look more rustic with a neck that had a maple fingerboard that was just aged to the bejesus? That rosewood neck is absolutely fantastic, but it looks so new compared to the rest of the build (unless you do leave the pickguard unaged). But what do I know? I’m just a schlep on the Internet! :freako:

I have thought about stripping the color off the guard and spraying it in bleach to lay in the sun to discolor. Might go that route.

I stripped the anodizing off of the pickguard with oven cleaner. Worked pretty easy. Sprayed it and let it sit for 30min and rinse off. Repeat until clean.

Once down to just aluminum, I sprayed it with foam bleach cleaner and let it sit in the sun. It discolored it slightly in a cool way.

Got it wired up and sort of attached. I need pickguard screws.....

Strings on and all done. It all came together well. The aged knobs I did fit the look well I think. :)
