Re: Warmoth Diamondback Projects
The Kramer neck I ordered came in. Love the banana headstock. It makes no sense which makes me love it. LOL

The tuners I ordered ended up being from out of the US by mistake.
I am sure they will show up eventually. LOL

That headstock is ridiculous. The whole thing is perfect, though. Totally works.

I was telling my daughter that. I randomly came across that neck but it works great. The black headstock goes with the pickups and knobs and the gold lettering goes well with the knobs and cream plastics.countertext wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 3:07 pmThat headstock is ridiculous. If you felt like cutting your own headstock from a blank, the gibson victory shape would probably work really well with that body, and make a certain amount of perverse sense...

That is cool! I haven't ever cut a headstock shape before.

In the 80s and 90s, Gibson fucked around with the Explorer headstock on occasion. You don't see it often at all, but it actually is "a thing."

honestly with Kramer having some current models that are just Gibsons but pointier I think it doesn't look out of place at all.

The under-appreciated Ibanez roadstar headstock is also a nice option for offsets imo

And also legitimately very nice necks.
But the banana looks great as-is. A reverse might look even better...

I have a tough time with reverse headstocks. They are kind of a pain to tune with the keys on the opposite side.
I do like Roadstar necks also. They aren't always easy to find. LOL
Those Gibsons with the Explorer headstock are pretty cool. It would be fun for them to reissue those.

It reminds me of a Firebird/Thunderbird one.

Love that headstock. What does it for me is the bullet truss rod adjustment. Honestly I don't know why we ever diverted from that truss rod nut design. They figured out that its easier to adjust at the top, and also the coolest way to do it. More guitars should have bullet truss rods IMO

All guitars necks should have either bullet, or side adjustment like Warmoth.

Re: Warmoth Diamondback Projects
Green diamondback is done! This one turned out really well. The action is super low. It is totally a shredder neck so I don't know if that helped, but it is pretty awesome. The Kluson tuners work great. The neck mounted fine. I did have to clip the tips off of the two front screws due to the sculpted heel but that went fine. I also trimmed the front edges of the neck pocket a bit because of how thin the wood was there. It was super flimsy so I trimmed it back to where it had better thickness. Really happy with how it plays and sounds. I did a demo of it and one with downtuning for "The 4th of July." I know... wrong Diamondback but it was the first one I was messing with... Pickups sound great and controls work just fine. The strap buttons went on just fine and should work great. Here are pictures.
