Jag project begins
Jag project has started.
first step: new neck for Squier Jag.
Here is the neck with Sperzel tuners and custom 3D printed tuner buttons from Shapeways:
What you can't see is that the buttons are knurled.

Hey Ralph,
Yes, you are correct sir. That was the idea behind the headstock design.
Thank you!!

Proof of concept on current Squier CV 70 Jag.
final thinline build will have full one piece brushed aluminum pickguard and vibrato with white knobs and switches. I think that it will look boss!!

Ohhh, I’ve been thinking a lot about one-piece jag pickguards too. Are you DIYing that, or do you know of a vendor who sells them? I haven’t found much when searching the web.

Re: Jag project begins
well, my final project will be a GuitarForm thinline and he (Deed_Poll on this forum) told me that he can make me a custom one piece pickguard. I think plastic, that I will then send to Tone-Guard to make in aluminum. I will be using two different pickups plus a Mustang-type switch in addition to normal Jag electronics so it will be a fully custom guard.

Dan makes awesome stuff. I keep telling myself that when I get some money stuff sorted I'm going to build a Juggernaut. This looks like it'll be a fun project, though!dgrunbe wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 7:23 amwell, my final project will be a GuitarForm thinline and he (Deed_Poll on this forum) told me that he can make me a custom one piece pickguard. Who made that guard that you have there?

This guard came from Ghost Custom Guitars in UK.
One thing that I thought would be cool, since I hate the sight of all those button head screw heads would be to use countersunk
socket head screws.

Question for you all:
I am currently in the long process of choosing colors for my Jag thinline project.
I am totally enamored with chrysler frost green metallic. Unfortunately, PRS uses it.
Another choice would be to put metal flake in chrysler surf green or ford surf green.
What do we all think? thank you.
ps. I'm leaning towards mixing in metallic silver with 69 chrysler metallic surf green to lighten it up a tad. Need to try it.
PRS also uses metallic surf green.

Re: Jag project begins
Beautiful color but being a GM man I prefer the very similar palmetto green!
reverb.

thanks, rizzla
palmetto green is similar, but too dark for my taste, at least in the pics I've seen.
there is also a BMW palmetto green which I don't like.
it also depends alot on lighting and monitor.

Why does it matter if PRS uses a color? Legit question. I wouldn't let that stop me.

Re: Jag project begins
The closest "Fender" match is Sage Green Metallic FWIW.
It is criminally under-used; I've never seen a Jaguar (guitar) in that colour. Would look fantastic I reckon.
