faction alternatives / source for 12 string hardtail plate?
So Faction seems to be no more, which is a bummer for a bunch of reasons. The one currently irking me is that I have this idea bouncing around my head to do a 12 string conversion with a body I have thats got an offset bridge and trem route. The obvious way to do this would be to use the (now unavailable) faction 12 string plate.
Which leads to my question, is there an alternative way of getting this result? Does anyone have a file that could be used with send cut send for instance?
(I won't even bother to ask about the larger question of what to do about all the templates one could get from faction that are probably no longer available anywhere else... ugh).
Anyway. Thoughts?

You might try sending Herad a message. He used to take custom orders, not sure if that’s still the case.

I've been thinking about DIYing plates from 2mm aluminum and polishing them up, seems to work decently well at least from a visual perspective, and the material is easy to work with. Not sure how well it'd handle the stress of string tension, but wouldn't think it'd be that bad assuming areas with tension are decently supported as they would on a hardtail trem plate...

What if you incorporated a block of some sort on the underside of the plate? It could end up just looking like a standard offset bridge in the sense that there's three screws holding the block on but it would provide added strength where the strings are anchored.bodhi wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 11:46 pmI've been thinking about DIYing plates from 2mm aluminum and polishing them up, seems to work decently well at least from a visual perspective, and the material is easy to work with. The aluminum plate on my 6 string doesn’t budge even a little so you’re probably fine. I think it’s slightly over 2mm though (made from the baseplate of a 1590BB).bodhi wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 11:46 pmI've been thinking about DIYing plates from 2mm aluminum and polishing them up, seems to work decently well at least from a visual perspective, and the material is easy to work with. This may turn out to be the solution, when Justin checks his stock to see if he has some.JVG wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 10:13 pmYou might try sending Herad a message. He used to take custom orders, not sure if that’s still the case.
