EYGUITARMUSIC.com no longer shipping to USA?

Post by thevolumecontrol » Sun Apr 27, 2025 3:06 pm

I saw a ridiculous shipping cost for an item they were selling on reverb, so I went over to their site. I’ve been mulling buying some knobs, bridges, pickup covers, etc. and USA is not listing in their shipping locations anymore.

Thanks Trump, you fuckhead

Goddammit.
Sorry to hear that. Hope Australia isn't next.
I'd better buy up before Dutton gets in as Prime Minister.

Honestly, your PM may be reluctant to kneecap the whole economy for some pipedream of bringing back low-wage factory jobs to a country that has a cost of living that is not compatible with low-wage factory jobs. It's not really working out for ol' SprayTan over here in the US, and I'm sure other countries are taking notes (and/or have common sense).

Whether or not I was going to buy from them is debatable. I do know others may. They have a pretty wide selection of things people want at a pretty good price. At minimum- their wide range JM humbucker looked worth the price of admission.

I could be mistaken- but a week or two ago, you could put in USA as a shipping destination and it would give you a shipping cost, and now it’s not in their list. Though if I go to pay with Apple Pay, it will bring up shipping cost and a total- though not sure if they’d actually ship with that bypass.

I just emailed to see if my suspicions are true

I ordered a couple of pickups very recently to be sent here to the US. Guess I got in just under the wire.

They probably had a bunch of angry Americans who don't understand tariffs blaming them for the price increases and got sick of dealing with it.

They probably would have been happy to ship - tariffs or not - but Hong Kong post suspended all shipments to the US a few weeks back, and I would guess that's this is the reason. As a person who has dealt with this sort of thing first-hand in the recent past (e.g. trying to ship to Canada during the Canada Post strike in Nov/Dec 2024), shifting to a different courier as a business is not a trivial matter. I suspect they're probably thinking it's better to wait a bit and see if Trump actually backs down (and he will) before going through all that hassle.

The real fear - to me anyway - is that China sees this tariff war as a very convenient way to shift the world order away from the US and keeps embargos in place regardless of whatever Trump does. And honestly, who could blame them?

FYI, they told me that they evaluating the clusterfuck that is this tariff situation (not in those words) but they should have a better handle on things after May 10th. Not that they're reopening shipping after May 10th, but they'll have more information to work with by then.

China has said fuck trump, we’re holding the line. Trump is busy shooting himself and the American economy in the dick. Not optimistic things improve by then.
