Sorry to hijack this popcorn thread, but I'm wondering about these pickups. You'd think that there would be one wire from each end of the coil (which you could determine with an ohmmeter) and one connected to the pickup housing, so either of the other two wires could be joined to it, and then both to ground. But what if that's not the case? Maybe there are two both coming off the same end of the coil for whatever reason, maybe for some kind of series switching (that pic of the old setup looked unusual). You've probably already checked them, but if not, it could be worth putting a meter across those pickups.

You should seriously invest in one, you can probably get a sears one or something for $30 or so. I use a $30 craftsman that's lasted me forever and does everything I need. Pretty sure I could even do amp stuff with it, but I have yet to try the fuses with plate voltage
The new ones do even more stuff, like measure capacitance and temperature even

My Fender goes to twelve.

I know, actually I do have one, it's just at my brother's house. I don't really know enough about using them, and mine is so old and I think the battery is dead, but it's like some weird battery they don't even make any more.

Where we're at...
The face of the headstock is lacquered black. Do we have a decal to go on there, before I clear coat it, or should I just shoot the clear and call it good?
I did a temporary fix on the wiring. I clipped the middle two pickups, so now there's just the neck and bridge pickups either on or off.
I think other than the decal question, I can probably put it together and string it up (the bridge and nut will both need slotted for the twelve strings).

Make that
TEN strings!
I haven't been able to find anyone to do a decal for me, although I'd sure like one. Anybody? Jaguar X?
If no takers, let's just shoot it. I would like a "RHONEY" decal, at least!
Thanks Paul.

Derrr, yeah meant ten, of course. I have some black Rhoney decals, but those wouldn't work on the headstock face, obviously. I suppose I could put one on the back or something. Or try to get a stencil and gold ink it on the front.

Hmmm... black logo on black headstock... STEALTH RHONEY!
Well Paul Bigsby was never shy about having his name inlaid proudly across the headstock face of all the big-old Gibson acoustics he used to re-neck... and you're AT LEAST as cool as him!
Man I sure hope you don't hate me after all the trouble I've put you through. Somehow I imagine the face-to-face meeting between you and Andrew was something akin to a celebrity roast of ME! (Steve/mongoose...that crazy mf... stupid ideas... bastard...)

I could
Design a decal for you, and then one of you could make the waterslide or have someone else do it.
Quick question though; where would you want it to go? You kind of have some tuning machines going through the area it would normally be.

It would have to go on the "scroll" so I guess it would have to be kind of small. "JAGUAR" on top and "X" underneath, I imagine. I'd just like it to look like a regular JAG logo with the stylized "X" from a Fender XII basically.
Of course, it really isn't worth holding up the build for- I must admit to being somewhat EAGER to take possession of this bad girl!
EDIT: For that matter, Paul's a pretty artful dodger- maybe just gold paint the logos and then clearcoat?

Makes sense, just holla-back if you change your mind.
