Allparts has a lot of different knob colors to choose from, but they only have white pickup covers.

I want to make my white on black JM look like this:

a bit late perhaps, but the covers and knobs on that particular guitar are:

and

Alright, well maybe it's just my pickguard, or maybe it's just the mint pickguards that are a little bigger cut.  Like I said, I've read of this problem elsewhere.  I don't have a photo of me trying to fit my aged covers on there but you can see how tight the CIJ ones are already in this photo:

Image

They're already basically pressed right up against the pickguard at the screw holes.  You can also see how badly the pole piece holes line up with US-sized pickups.  (The same would be true with the AVRI covers and CIJ pickups.)  I had to file my holes too, *and* I had to file the inside of the cover itself so the pickups would fit in there.  They fit right into the aged covers, though, so my CIJ covers are clearly smaller.

But hopefully stilwel's stuff will all fit together like you guys', and it'll be all's well that ends well.

I wouldn't mind having to file the pickguard a little.  That's all part of modding a guitar.  Every time I've performed any modifications on a guitar, I've run in to some sort of hang up....Except for the AVRI trem swap on my CIJ Jazzmaster.  That was a drop-in deal.  8)

My shipment of parts (red tort guard, and aged plastic parts) just arrived.....time to get busy.

Unfortunately, the aged toggle-switch tip I ordered doesn't fit on the switch  >:(

Anyone know where to get one for a CIJ toggle-switch?

That's strange.  My AVRI switch tip fit right on to my CIJ switch...

I think your guitar must have been blessed by the God of AVRI.

Done...except for my toggle-switch tip snafu.
Complete with new Mustang bridge  ;)
The pickup covers were a tight fit, but I didn't have to modify anything.

Buy the one that says "Metric" in the description (SK-0643-028 ) :)
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

Could have been.  I've had my share of frustration, though.  It had a loose, high fret when I got it.  I was able to tap it down a little, but not before nicking it up.  :(

That was the only real problem I had with the build quality.

Well after this, I am going to try again to put my aged white pickup covers on the next time I change my strings (and I just did, so it'll be a little while again).  I actually think I like plain white better, but I want to see how it looks and I don't like how the pole pieces look now in my current covers.

I remember them not even being close to fitting, but maybe I just didn't try jamming them in there hard enough.

Well crap.....I ordered the metric toggle tip, and it doesn't fit either!!!    :(
It appears to be the exact switch tip I received last week.
Maybe they sent me the wrong part?

Double-frick.....

I just checked the invoice of my first shipment, the first switch tip that I got was also the "metric" type.
Now I have 4 of them that don't fit.

So.....FYI.......the Metric toggle switch tips at Guitar Parts Resource do NOT fit the toggle switch on a CIJ Jazzmaster.

Ok, I'm dredging this topic up again because I finally changed my strings again and I tried the AVRI covers - they fit!  Just *barely*, and I did have to really jam them in there, but they did fit.  And the nice thing is my pole pieces fit the covers properly now.  Though the poles on the SD antiquity II's are really short, so they don't quite sit flush with the cover itself - they're a bit below the top.

I know I'm in the minority but I'm not sure if I'm into the fake vintage-ized look:

I will probably pick up some new knobs and tips and then see how it all works together.
