Talk about modding or building your own guitar from scratch.

i did think that, but the cavity is too shallow for the pup mounting screws... the pickup is literally screwed to the body as low as it can go. Luckily the strings still sit a nice amount above the pup

You really can't go wrong with a Bare Knuckle or a Curtis Novak....

I just received a Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell from Tim for my Les Paul and it sounds fantastic! So rich, so detailed, warm and balanced :? I can only imagine what one of these would sound like in a JM.

But, I believe Curtis Makes the best sounding Pickups for Jm purposes, (single coils) although I've also heard good reviews about his humbuckers for Jm's.
Curtis really knows the JM well.

In addition, I'm sure every pickup Tim makes is awesome for any application!

I've wanted to see a Bare Knuckle in a JM... It' looks really good!....Cool Idea!....I'm sure this thing is a tone monster, capable of being a serious metal machine!  :)

I think so, but I guess you have to drill some holes then.

OMG! Played the modded Jazzy at rehearsal tonight...
was blown away! sounds soo big but still bright.
I think the only thing it needs now is the 250k volume pot changed to a 500k and its done!

Maybe a Mastery bridge someday down the line :P

I finally got round to changing the pots and cap in this guitar.
Was gonna restring it but I had some time on my hands and all the parts I needed.
500K volume and tone controls and a .47 cap.
Band practise tonight soo we'll see how much difference it makes

Hello,
i will order a pickup ring, but i have some questions : did you took a special one or normal? I saw there is high ou low, which one is yours? Did you screw the ring to pickguard ou with long screws to the body (where you screw the pickup)?
I am looking for a mustang, jaguar or jazzmaster, made in japan and not expensive

the pickup is screwed straight into the body
the pickup ring is just one I had in my spare parts box but I would recommend the lower pickup ring
I used long screws to mount the pickup right to the body (for this you can use your original jazzmaster pickup mounting screws)

Wow, that looks pretty sweet :)
Can i ask, how does it sound in the middle position now? Is there still hum canceling?
(sorry if i use the wrong term, i'm not that technical , but very curious how they sound together, i'm also getting really tired of my cij pickups)

sounds really strange in the middle position! Its super bright and choppy sounds fucking awesome.
I do want to get another JM and get some Quarter Pounders in it.

btw I just scraped all the black paint off the pickup... looks really cool like an old nickle humbucker thats starting to wear out
