Not really, I've seen a Rickenbacker like that, a couple of super-strats with green fretboards too. Prolly the easiest way would be to get an all maple neck and paint it.

Yeah, once you apply the finish, it will feel like an ordinary maple neck.

These would be great for drilling holes in to let humbucker pole pieces show through. People with the Novak JM pickups could make 12 hole covers to show off their shiny new toys.

you could do that, although it would be easier, better looking and more accurate to have the cover made with the holes already there. you could have 12 or 6 holes for a regular humbucker, 2 holes for rails, 1 hole for a charlie christian pickup or even 6 holes WRHB-style.kalipigeon wrote: These would be great for drilling holes in to let humbucker pole pieces show through. Nice Looking guitar!
How's the material quality?
We have a 3d print service at our work, but it prints with a type of powder that melts together into shape and it is really crisp and fragile compared to molded plastic.

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

it is a bit like that, but it's not that bad, actually. i was a bit worried about the very thin bit where the screws go when i screwed it on, but it held up nicely.the older brother wrote: Nice Looking guitar!

the finish is a bit rough, however, but sanding it helped a lot. i only had up to 1000 grit but i'll get some finer sandpaper in a couple of days and give it a final sand.

This is looking good. I've been looking for covers exactly like this. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you to get the plans to make these. I have a 1994 MIJ Jazzmaster that I have been recently gathering parts for to upgrade.
Awesome job.

Very nice look, great job! I would be interested in a pair of these. Heck make it two pair in black and white.

Those roller knobs are really cool. Would definitely use them if I had a rhythm section.

the pickup covers are now available: http://www.shapeways.com/model/28027/jm ... cover.html
and just for the record; i am not selling these. shapeways and UPS get all the money, so please don't ban me for posting the link outside the for sale-section...
