A 30" scale conversion neck for any standard 25.5" scale Fender would have 24 frets and be quite playable. The Fender Custom Shop made some both as Teles and a Jazzmaster. Search "Bajo Sexto" here or Google and you'll find more info, probably even pics.
But yeah, going beyond 27" on a shorstcale would yield a silly number of frets and even if it was playable up that high, the shear length of the neck would make an obnoxiously unbalanced guitar. Pretty much the same thing with the Bajo Sexto thing.
There comes a point...

Bajo Sextos are pretty cool instruments (Spanish acoustic Bass IV), but I'm not finding any necks. I'll search here. I might just have to build one once I feel comfortable enough building necks without the machinery I'm use to.

Paul is referring to the Fender Bajo though- just a standard vintage-type Tele with a long-assed neck. They were offered for awhile back in the late 90's. Still are, I guess; special ordered.

No I know, I should've added a
They are pretty instruments though.
I searched here and found more on the fender version; I guess they did a sort of preliminary experimental run using true baritone scale (27) and tuning on a hardtail strat. The tele looks odd, but the the jazzmaster body is big enough to where it looks fine.

Yeah, I think it would be tits!
The Spanish Bajo always makes me smile. The cat playing it always seems to be a fat guy with a funny moustache!
