Had it been me, I would have had to cut that head into the Tele Bass shape. I know it's not appropriate for a JB, but non-fender headstocks look so wrong to me. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Regarding shell pink; I plan to tint mine yellow. I'm thinking it will turn more "salmon" than orange. At least that's how it shows up in the dressing room. I should try it on a paint stick and post pics.

Great idea on  the Tele headstock shape, but I didn't want to put that much time into it.  I'll save what time I have for more ambitious projects, like my OffsetBlaster I've started on (I'll get a thread going once I've made some progress).

I'll be interested to see how the shell pink with yellow tint comes out.  You do know that Reranch sells what they call the Coral Pink/Salmon color, right?  Though I think you're probably trying to get the interaction of the base coat and the tinted clear.

That really looks awesome. Goes to show you don't need clearcoat on non-metallics. Just so you know, though, on a metallic, it's absolutely necessary.

Yep, I know I have to clearcoat metallics.  Doing the Daphne without clear was really fun and easy though, as getting any dust or other minor imperfections out was REALLY easy.  The nitro solids buff out way more shiny than stuff like Krylon and Rustolem - the get shiny but not glassy like the nitro.

I'm not sure how the polishing process will work with the clear, but I guess I'll find out.

that daphne blue is really nice! all in all a great, very harmonic  looking combination.
the lipsticks are gorgeous - i have some on my dano bass and i love them, maybe they're perfect for shortscale basses.

OR... an SX P-Bass from Rondo built into a Tele bass with the aforementioned cutdown headstock! The '51 PB RI parts are available.  Should be a maple board though. A clever person could cut a small chunk of walnut to make a removable plug for the headstock-end truss adjuster. Should make a cool project for +/- $200 depending on pickups!
