It needs the pickup rings...they're so metal.stereordinary wrote: I think if you can do it without the pickup rings, and maybe a Mint or Tort guard then you'll have a winner. Did you consider Charcoal Frost? That's sort of a "metal" color but still super classy. Ooh, and maybe lacquer the back of the neck too!

I got the body today, will post pics later. Such a weird color that Japanese white Blonde... it's like a cross between white blonde & desert sand.

Like an old refrigerator?it's like a cross between white blonde & desert sand.

Re: Heavy Metal JM - 4th update
Here's a big update... I've been sooo busy. I actually threw it together in this form this morning. All that's left is routing the body for humbuckers and wiring it up. I'll need to level the frets, too.
I got a Tonepros TOM (export/metric size) and the buzzstop is on backwards to give me longer string length behind the bridge... not a bad compromise. A strange guitar... to me anyway. It's gonna be great though!

WARNING
I wish I hadn't bought that TonePros T.O.M Bridge!
The reason being that the post screws lock the bridge so well that when you use the trem bar, the individual saddles are forced to rock back & forth causing clanky noise and more than likely string breakage.
I was gonna return it but it was only $5-$10 more than the Gibson model. Removing the lock screws solved my problem.
