Thanks for your useful input, Bolteh. Well thought through, well argued and in no way a waste of everyone's time.

Forum Rule #1:
1. If you don't have anything useful to add, don't say anything. Be polite and respectful

Extraordinary potency. This in guitar form

+ what rob said. Seriously, Motorik eviscerates anything Fender has made in most peoples lifetime.

Hmm. Lotta people breaking that one recently. Though I shouldn't talk. I do bend it from time to time. The rule, I mean. But not with rudeness. Just off-topicness.

Hmm. Sentence fragments aplenty.

What's wrong with the headstock? It's a good design.

Considering my first post in this thread, this second one was relevant.

"Be polite and respectful"", idiotbear, that would be a nice rule for you to follow.

Really great work, Ben!

I would be very interested in aquiring one of those double bearing router bits... where to get one?

Just for me, this one.

There's a link above just between the two pics with the bit in - Axminster tools in the UK. Can't guarantee they ship abroad but I'm happy to mediate if needs be, Jerker.

Oh, I have major envy of Ben's shed. Mine is tiny, rotten and good for absolutely nothing.

Sorry, we were talking about sheds. I apologise.

Some contour shots. This is the first time I've done it this way (inspired by cross_guitars years ago), but it makes a mockery of messing around with spokeshaves and rasps.

Used my angle grinder and a 24(!) grit sanding disk to chop out the bulk of the wood:

Then marked a line 1/2" either side of the edge and rounded up to it by hand with spokeshave and/or 80 grit paper.

Same again for the arm contour:

This is it after a first wipe of Behlen cellulose sanding sealer:

Any chance you can get me a tool porn shot of the grinding disk you used Ben? I bought an angle grinder inspired by Cross_Guitars too, and the disk that is on it only any good for cutting through metal :wtf: . And I am having a hell of a time finding disks that look like they would work any good to carve contours like that.
