Well, to be fair, I still have to shield the pickguard and cavities, but the shielding tape won't be here until tomorrow.  The pickups are Seymour Duncan Antiquities, and the neck is a Mighty Mite 22 fret.  I went for the Kluson Deluxe tuners with the white kes cause I think they look good on my Mustang.  the paint is Duplicolor brand auto refinish paint out of a rattle can and it requires no clear coat.  The color is Light Blue Metallic, which I was hoping would look more like IBM, but it looks good anyway.

That should be a complete different guitar than a stock JM though - "feel-wise" I mean.

Never having played a stock JM, I would have no idea.    I played it in band practice tonight, and it sounded great.  A lot more balls than my MIJ '65 Mustang RI.  It has me wanting the Antiquity pickups for that guitar now.

The sustain is way better than on my 'stang too.  I still need to make some adjustments to the action and the pickups heights.  I am finding the difference between the neck and bridge pickups is not nearly as much a difference as on other guitars I have played.  Maybe it is the darker nature of the tone on the Antiquities that keeps the bridge pickup from being so bright and keeps the sounds of the pickups more similar tone-wise?

It seems to be decent.  I didn't do any fretwork on it and it didn't seem to need it.  Actually, it was basically plug-and-play.  The profile seems kind of fat, but I think that is because it is one of the bigger "vintage" profiles, plus I am used to the 'stang neck.

I thought it had a thin finish on it, but now I am thinking it might be unfinished.  Not sure.  If there isn't a finish on it, the factory surfacing work on the wood is top notch.  I am debating taking off the tuners and putting something on it, even if it is just an oil finish.

So how went the duplicolor? I'm gonna use it as well on my Tele project (Duplicolor is not very expensive and widely available, hence the choiche)
So anything you can share on that? A DIY store near me sells Duplicolor (about €7 a can and they also sell seperate spray tips, 6 in a blister with 3 different spray patterns, Think I'll pick those up as well as they are only € 2.50)
As far as I could see on the cans Duplicolor is no Acrylic paint. So I guess it's poly? Anyway tools should be cleaned with White spirit, so it might be enamel...
I bought a can of Motip Car paint, since they have a near match for Daphne blue, which I hope to use on my Hagström II body.

Duplicolor went on fine.  It was easier on the headstock than on the body.  I got runs on the body because of the large area I tried sweeping the spray too slowly to get coverage.  Allow for many coats and not getting full coverage on a given coat and you will be fine.  I had to sand out the runs and re-coat.  I am happy with the results though.

According to the can, you only need a clear coat with the colors that end in "CC" in the name.
