That came out great! How cool to save that one from the woodpile. You did a very good job.

Does it have a salvage title?

I thought so. By the way, I like your choice of color and the tort PG.

When I began the project, I was planning on getting a custom black guard, then I decided to change the scope just a bit: aside from painting it red, keep everything else original.

I even considered spraying it black like it was originally, but I am like you... you mentioned not being a big fan of CAR except in a few cases. I'm like that with black guitars. In the right circumstances I would do it... this just didn't feel like the time to do it.

I really wanted to try candy red with a non-standard gold metallic. Champagne Gold Metallic, to me, looks like a 1:1 mix of silver metallic and gold metallic.

I think that "Salvage Title" should be the guitar's name!

Great idea! If you don't mind, I think I will have that on a custom engraved neck plate!

I think that's an outstanding idea! Every guitar needs a name. Some get it beforehand. Others after it's done. :w00t:

Great job :)
Thanks! It was my third guitar rebuild... I still have some technique issues to work out, but my wife said it was the best one so far.

I could image if this made it back onto the used market eventually someone would try flipping it as if this damage never happened :D

Thanks! My original goal was that it all the damage would be covered up... not that I want to resell it. I actually really wanted the guitar. But, in the end, some of the damage does show through the paint. You have to look for it, but it's there. In the used market, I am not sure how much it would matter, but a seller certainly wouldn't be able to deny there was a repair.

Great thread, great work, and great color choice! I wish it was easier to capture the magic of candy apple red on camera, but then again, that might make the color become way too popular :)

Many thanks! It was a labor of love. And I think I actually have a favorite guitar now... I've said that before, but this time I mean it!! :)
