Yellowing Olympic White with shoe polish
Was on the fence about refinishing my AVRI 62 Jaguar. The Olympic White was getting boring. Decided to try to age it a bit before committing to stripping paint etc. I achieved this with several coats of kiwi tan and a few light coats of brown polish. Dulled finish with 0000 steel wool before coating and used a little rubbing alcohol after to remove any excess/dull the color.
The finish checking was done with a blow dryer and can of air duster sprayed upside down to freeze the warmed nitro. What's cool about this is you can heat up the nitro again after freezing and remove any unwanted checking relatively quick.

Oh wow that actually looks nice! Do you have a "before" picture?

Thanks for the feedback! Here's a pic from the listing when I bought it. The current pickguard is from Troy Neagle.

Looks absolutely fantastic!
Maybe I'm over-thinking it... ?
but the thought of rubbing my bare, sweaty forearm against a surface tinted with shoe polish (carcinogens), gives me serious anxiety.

I had the exact same thought. I'm imagining my shirts and forearms yellow with stain.

haha def worth considering. I wore gloves to apply the stuff to a lightly sanded surface, polished it, wiped with a clean cloth using isopropyl alcohol to remove any excess, followed by virtuoso cleaner and polish to minimize what could have been left behind

Re: Yellowing Olympic White with shoe polish
Hey there, I’m currently working on an Olympic white jazzmaster. I have all the materials listed but I’m having difficulty applying the shoe polish. Would you be able to provide me with a list of specifics as to how you achieved the yellow/cream Jaguar with the tan kiwi shoe polish, the steel wool pads and alcohol?
Thanks
