New Project.. Thank you stereordinary

Post by northern_dirt » Fri Apr 25, 2008 5:13 pm

So I was the guy who bought the "scrapmaster"
It had this crazy 70's vibe that I just totally dug..
Plus I knew this would be a one of a kind AND I could
get routed anyway I wanted..

Image

I asked the have a Jazz rout for the bridge and a Jag rout for the neck.. And NO
Rhythmn section rout..

Image
Stereordinary also cut me a Pickguard to match the routing
Image

Nothing is wired yet, or screwed in either..
Im waiting on
1. Pup Screws
2. Trem screws
3. Bridge thimbles
4.Jazzmaster PUP selector switch
5. Cloth wire
6. Maple Neck

Im trying to bleech the yellow out of a aged jazzmaster pup right now..
Also the neck that I have on right now is just for show..

Ill then use a light stain/finish to match the body and headstock..

You are quite welcome sir!  That looks great!

I'm relieved that the neck pocket didn't require days worth of sanding to get that neck to fit.  I was a little worried.  Fits o.k. though, I hope?

Lookin' good!

I still think you should stain it ala Coronado Wildwood... with all the crazy hues in the stain. Does anyone have a pic of one?

I think it would look GREAT!

8)
I think it looks really cool - just put some lightly tinted clearcoat on and you'll be fine.

It is a little late to do it like the coronado wildwoods - the trees the wood is taken from is raised with stained water, so the stain is soaked up by the roots into the fibres IIRC (I might be wrong though)

Why don't you buy a new JM pup-cover if you want a white one? I can buy that nicely yellowed from you.....
Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

I think I might do that (Should have thought about that last night
I just sent two orders to GPR.. )..

I just checked on the other one I was trying to stain back.. no dice..

So I have a pair of them if you are interested..

Not an option at this point.  They did the wildwood finishes by injecting dye into the trees as they were growing.  No sh*t.

That could still be simulated. The variations in the wood(s) already are what made me think of it. You can get Minwax stain in colors and I would pick something like orange and green and randomly stain it... followed by a nitro clearcoat. Or even one color, the different woods would take it differently. I think you could simulate it pretty good and have the only faux-wildwood JM in existence.

The CBS details would really go well with it.

Just MHO...

I agree, Doug.  I knew that's sort of what you meant in the first place.
