Probably not ash, the pores in ash are open like oak.

Re: Champage Sparkle Jag build
Body looks Alder to me. Ash has very different open pores (like Oak) as mentioned above. After sanding, Ash is still uneven on the pores, hence the heavy use on grain filler needed.
Beautuful body nevertheless....
I like the idea of the (champagne) swimming pool. Lots of Pu options.

Re: Champage Sparkle Jag build
I actually talked with Johnny about that guitar (and Jags in general) for a good 20 minutes a couple of years ago. He calls that "Comet Sparkle", and told me that he was looking for something different to take out on tour. He was going over ideas with his rep at the Fender Custom Shop - in his head he was envisioning something in a Yellow Metalflake - not gold, but a metalflake yellow. That gave the finish guy all kinds of fits, as they couldn't get anything that really worked. Johnny was about to just give up on the idea and just go out with his LPB Sustainiac JM Jag and whichever other one felt best before he packed up, when he got a call from the FCS rep saying that they had something he might want to check out. It wasn't yellow metalflake, but rather a brilliant silver flake that looked heavily nicotined. He loved it, and said that has been his "go to" Jag ever since...at least until the next one.
I did ask him if there would be any additional colors/new finishes to the Marr Jag line, and he said he's certainly all for something new and different, but it wouldn't be a sparkle guitar.
Johnny is a badass...I think a Pink Champagne Flake would be a fantastic Marr Jag finish.

It’s an amazing finish. Cool to know the back story too!

That's cool that he took 20 minutes just to talk about gear. What a champ.

Re: Champage Sparkle Jag build
This build is at the top of my "I cannot wait to see how this turns out" list. Amazing to see the progress so far. Also, thanks for sharing the Marr story about the sparkle finish on his Jag. So cool that he can nerd out on gear as much as the rest of us.
