Guess this is a good place for posting pics of my new guitar, a JM with strat pickups
It has a Sustainiac drive, a killswitch and a mystery bridge. Body and neck have a satin finish (body is transparent red alder).

It took some time for it to develop like this. It started off pretty subtle and much smoother looking. I'd say that it got pretty close to it's final state within 30-60 days? Lots of people have commented on how reptilian it looks now.epizootics wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 7:42 pmThat's really cool. Accidents don't usually turn out this nice. That all said, I need to experiment with that guitar a little more. I don't care for the lighter gauge strings that I put on it. I thought they'd be great for the Multibender bridge, but it just feels a little flimsy. On the flipside, I actually love the heavier flatwounds that I put on this other build (which in retrospect, would have fit in on this thread with the Tele-neck pickup in the behind-the-bridge placement:

Re: Post pictures of your Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang with Alternative Pickups
Thanks! Hehehe. Well I asked a luthier to do all the job for me. I would have messed it all ^_^U I would love learning how to build a guitar like this in the future but I would need to have a lot of money, so if I fail it wouldn't hurt that much xD
What I can say is that these pickups work great with Sustainiac. I started with Sustainiac and a jazzmaster pickup in mind, but Alan (the Sustainiac creator) told me it would likely not work very well. Also, after fully testing a friend's jazzmaster I realized I prefer the strat tone, but I wanted to move to a JM body and tremolo, and I couldn't be happier of the result ^_^

I completely love this guitar: the color, the pickups, everything. I was wondering about the Sustainiac. Is it like an E-bow, or more for just feedback? How much of a pain in the ass were the Sustainiac people to deal with? After seeing this, I had an idea for a guitar and would love to include one, but their website makes them sound like they are kinda dicks and wasn't sure if it would be worth it or not.
That is a stunningly gorgeous color scheme!! Totally in love with that

It's like an ebow, with it's normal and harmonic mode (and an extra "middle" mode that I barely use). Sometimes you can make more than one string ring at the same time but after a while it always goes to the thickest one. To me it's much better than an ebow because you don't have to drop any device to play normally again.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 4:54 pmI completely love this guitar: the color, the pickups, everything. The Sustainiac people are not dicks! Lol. Alan was really helpful answering my questions for like a month and a half, but their website really needs an update. On the other hand, when I ordered the kit, I did it through a local dealer in Spain because I couldn't fully figure out what to order on the official website (the dealer knew exactly what to ask me and I saved a bit on customs tax).
If you have any doubt, feel free to PM me

Re: Post pictures of your Jazzmaster or Jaguar with Alternative Pickups
Glad to know that they are friendly and helpful! It might've just been the website that needs a major update (and pictures of the Sustainiac driver and subsequent options). I've got an Ebow and I use it quite a bit. I thought the idea of having one guitar where it's built-in might be really cool. Here's what I was thinking:molul wrote: ↑Sun Oct 11, 2020 10:16 pmIt's like an ebow, with it's normal and harmonic mode (and an extra "middle" mode that I barely use). Jazzcaster with a P-90 in the bridge, Sustainiac in the neck, and a behind-the-bridge, non-tremolo JM tailpiece plate (like from Faction). I don't know if it's possible (I'll email the Sustainiac guys if I decide to pursue), but I thought having a on-off switch AND a momentary on-off switch for the Sustainiac would be cool.

Re: Post pictures of your Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang with Alternative Pickups
Not sure about the p90, but Alan told me that the jazzmaster soap pickup wouldn't be powerful enough to power the Sustainiac drive, so I went with the humbucker strat pickup approach (and I'm so glad I did).
Oh, another advice: don't go with the other sustain system, the Fernandes Sustainer. It's kind of an old Sustainiac model, licensed back in the day (late 90s I think). The current Sustainiac is the best option.

Re: Post pictures of your Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Mustang with Alternative Pickups
I'm pretty sure that P-90s have a bit higher output than JM pickups, so I'm not too worried about that. I'll definitely hit those guys up to chat at some point.
The Fernandes Sustainer always seemed pretty cool, but I heard it was kind of a pain in the ass as you had to use the entire system, i.e., you couldn't use other pickups. I never used it, but at that point, I went with the Ebow.

A bit off-topic, but I see your pic of dual short scale CFM offsets and raise it with a pic of dual 25.5 scale CFM offsets. CFM AF.Tweedledee wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 6:57 amThat's so kind of you to say!
