Looking to upgrade the pickups in my MIJ Jaguar.
I have 2 other jags with a set of Buddha and PV65’s.
What are some of your favorite Jaguar pickups?

I just replaced a set of Pure Vintage 62’a with a pair of Curtis Novak Jag-V’s. I had all but concluded that I might not be a Jag guy, but my Jaguar is now my favorite guitar

I recently upgraded my MIJ to Lollars. It's like a whole new guitar. The stock pickups were so thin by comparison. Very pleased with the upgrade.

I’ve got Creamery Alt 88 mids in my CIJ Jag. They sound somewhere in between P90 and Jag pickups. Perfect for me.

I'm about to try a used set of Pure Vintage '65 in my Player Jaguar: I was tempted to order some from 'The Creamery' but delivery times are too long and I found these used on Reverb.

I actually like the standard Player neck pickup, but couldn't find a lone single coil that I could try in the bridge. I figured having a matching pair might be better, but I just hope they sound good. Worst case is I could try the Player neck with either the '65 neck or bridge in the bridge position if I prefer the Player neck pickup. Probably just swap pots first though as I suspect the '65 might be a bit too bright for my tastes. Kind of 'Goldilocks' because I find the humbucker bridge too dull, even when split.

Obviously I need a new pickguard, so I'm cutting one from a blank so I don't have to have the top switch to make it as clean as possible. I hope it's worth the effort...

I bought an enamel-wire set from EP Custom, and I really like them. I didn't like the sharp attack and ice pick from the AVRI62 set, and these are very sparkly and clear. I found him on reverb. Great to deal with, and he made them and shipped the next day.

sounds like you already have the 2 best jag p/ups available!

Most jaguar/jm pickups are way too bright & trebly imo - F ships their instruments set-up like this :derp:
Buddha's w/ A5's and PV65's both have the market on growl factor, which sounds incredible to my ear. Perfectly clear lows & highs + testicular growl = totally awesome. I really like Bare Knuckle as well, he does a great job on request - just too expensive to justify.

No need to break the bank on 'boutique' wound, only to get ridiculous maxed out treble.

its not the need to break the bank on boutique, It's the need to look for something different. I think what pickup winders like Curtis Novak and Lindy Fralin offer you, they are worth the price.

Well if you're asking whats my fav Jaguar p/up?
Answer = Buddha A5's and/or Fender PV65's
(many successful artists agree)
(not to say I am either)

If you just want a different sound on your MIJ Jag, maybe try rewiring from stem to stern - you already have good quality p/ups, however factory wiring & elec configuration doesnt do them justice. You can give them a much better (or different) sound by replacing elec components.

If spending $200+ on a set of boutique wound pickups makes you feel better abt the sound, then go for it!
Whatever makes you smile is the best choice
