I have a Danelectro “danoblaster” 12 string and I’ve been on the fence about what pickups to try in it (not really into strat pickups), I hadn’t considered humbuckers but now I’m starting to.

in the bridge position the sound is absolutely massive. in this one i did everything like kevin's EGC/TBD builds. same pots and caps. in my opinion it has to be that way if you're using one of his pickups to get THAT sound. now if it only had an aluminium neck... maybe one day.

the neck position humbucker i think would be overpowering in this particular build. i really am glad i pulled 6 of the magnets from the novak. still has that wide range sound just not as boomy. no ragrets.

would definitely say give a good humbucker a try!

I have changed the stock pickups and switched up the wiring in mine so I can have the neck and bridge as one big humbucker (a’la Danelectro) but my favourite position so far is just the middle pickup.
Maybe I’ll switch it up again and put a humbucker in the bridge.

That does sound good. What’s the spec on those EGC pickups? I don’t know much about them tbh

Specs I’m not sure of, other than they’re made to replicate the original Travis Bean humbuckers from the 70’s. Same size as a wide range humbucker. Get in touch with Kevin via Instagram. He’ll set you straight.
