Electric XII build Duesenberg or Compton
Just waiting for my Musikraft neck before paint job of my latest XII build. (matching headstock)
Ive previously used Gotoh and threaded Jazzmaster bridges on XII builds. The Gotoh is a great piece of kit but I never liked the look of it.
Threaded Jazzmaster worked OK was a bit fiddly for setting radius.
With this build I have a choice of two..
Fully adjustable 12 string "Duesenberg" Bridge. This bridge is very pretty and looks solid.
And A custom made one piece aluminium 12 string "Compton" Bridge.
Thought that id review these XII options because finding "Original NOS Fender Electric XII bridge" for our XII builds is a looooooooong shot.
I will update as project progresses.

The Duesenberg looks great on there, and being able to intonate a little bit is probably better on a 12-string. I bet the Compton would sound great though.

Dont know what kind of Voo Doo is going down at Compton but the one that they did me for my 6 string Guild has bang on intonation!!
Dont know of any other builders using one for a 12 string though..

Re: Electric XII build Duesenberg or Compton
Done!
Went with Duesenberg bridge.. Didnt even try Compton on this.
Was so smitten with the look, Think it really looks the part.
Solid and sounds great.
Compton is going on the next XII which I am accumulating parts for.
I tried the Compton on my Gretsch 12 and I can tell you that the difference compared to the stock bridge was night and day!!
I have read many revues regarding Compton and was a little sceptical.. No more! Sounds waaaay better.
The neck is from musikraft. I have had nothing to do, Other than fitting the nut.
Just slapped it on.. Set string height, Intonated and the thing needed no truss rod adjustment and frets are bang on.
Wonder if I got the last one?
Currently out of stock???
My last XII build I went with Warmoth.. That required work on the frets and truss adjustment.

Re: Electric XII build Duesenberg or Compton
Update
Ive tried the "Aluminium Compton Bridge" on my latest XII build.
This build is a keeper!
This bridge is the best of any that I have tried on any 12 string I have built/owned inc... Original 66 XII - AR XII - Duesenberg bridge with full intonation - Jazzmaster threaded saddle - Teisco fixed radius .
All were good.. The worst 12 bridge I have used was a T.O.M. On my new Gretsch 12.
Only way I can describe the Compton is that it makes the notes come to life!!!
I put a brass one on my Gretsch and it was a massive improvement but the sound from the aluminium Compton is even better.
Plus no more messing with intonation/Saddle heights Etc Yay!!
