Jazzmaster Mod

Post by Caillan » Thu May 08, 2008 7:44 pm

So I am thinking on putting a pretty major mod into my CIJ Jazzmaster and just thought i would ask some advice before i go for it...

Essentially my plan is to change my rhythm circuit into a boost circuit... The boost circuit i am basing my design on is the Zvex Super Hard On (very nice boost pedal ;)) So based on the schematics of the SHO, i should theoretically be able to make my tone pot in the rhythm circuit a boost pot (keeping the volume pot, a volume pot)
I understand i will almost definately need to route some more room in the body cavity for the electronics and a 9v battery, but i just thought i would ask around and see if anyone else has tried something like this; and weather or not it actually worked!  ;D

Any suggestions/comments welcome!!
Thanks,
Caillan.

I know there are some people here working on the same thing. I am sure they'll chime in. I've thought about it myself but just haven't gotten ambitious about it.

There's plenty of room in the lead control cavity for the electronics, and the battery can go under the trem. There's no reason why it won't work.

Good luck  :)

Here's the schematic, obviously i didn't create this so i take no credit for its creation (or its accuracy ;D)

Here is the basic guts of the pedal, I personally like using these kinds of things as a bit of a reference as well just so i know if I'm on the right track

And heres a kind of layout... I would have thought fancy pants effects like Zvex would use their own PCBs, but then again, i guess they are all hand made...

hopefully this should all fit into the body cavity, I will probably play around with the circuit board template a bit to attempt to minimize the space used...
