Re: Creamsicle: spare parts jaguar!
I BOUGHT A NECK. HOLY DANG. Fender USA jaguar neck incoming. Dots and binding. Actual rosewood. Yessss! Will order some capri paint, clearcoat, and a decal.
also, remember that mute screw that broke off? Well I extracted it thusly:
now we fill with a plug of alder, seal the top, and screw in a high quality USA stainless screw from McMaster Carr and hide it under the pickguard forever.

Re: Creamsicle: spare parts jaguar!
neck is currently lost in transit (thanks UPS!) so today we tackled the rhythm cavity. all that's left is the pickup situation. my blocks of alder I had coming are taking their sweet time as well...
free-handed the cavity (got lazy, no fences or templates) did a final pass to clean everything up. Will try to get a photo of the final routing tomorrow. pickups then shielding and we're done!

oil that dry neck!!!
here's one coat of oil buffed with a microfiber. tuner bushings are the wrong size, but we're so close to stringing it up. staytrem bridge is on the way!

Looks great. That's a nice looking fingerboard, especially with some oil on it.

Man that looks fantastic! I know not having those tuner bushings would probably drive me insane having the rest of the thing so close to being complete. Nice work. That’s a really great looking instrument.

Re: Creamsicle: spare parts jaguar!
thanks. the stripes really bothered me at first, but I've given up. the profile is nice, and I like these frets. the back is a little glossy, but the finish seems thin so maybe i'll wear into it in a couple years.tequila_in_teacups wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 2:50 amLooks great. That gorgeous grain pattern bothered you at first? Wow, we have different tastes in necks. I think that's one of the most beautiful rosewood boards I've seen on a modern Fender.hexes wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:32 pmthanks. the stripes really bothered me at first, but I've given up. the profile is nice, and I like these frets. the back is a little glossy, but the finish seems thin so maybe i'll wear into it in a couple years.tequila_in_teacups wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 2:50 amLooks great. Great work overall. I'm not usually into orange guitars but there's no denying that this looks awesome. To call it an improvement over the stock configuration would be an epic understatement.

It has kind of an International Series look to it.

Looks so good! I know it's a play of the light you took that photo in, and the capri orange is much brighter, but that pic reminds me of my Warmoth JM.

I don't want to hijack a thread, but for the benefit of all mankind, how did you get a vintage-looking guard onto a Warmoth JM?!?

it bothered me until I oiled it. it looked like a cloudy pau ferro board at first. now i rather like the striped motion of it.mbene085 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:47 pm

orange was one of the last colors i'd ever have considered, but lately i've been eyeing yellow guitars for some reason. capri has grown on me.
