That looks great! What is the story on hammertone hardware?
Talk about the Fender Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and any other offset waist guitars with us!

i totally planned to bail on this body if it was too much work, but the moment I saw it in real life... absolutely in love with the color. it's so good. here's next to my daphne JM in crappy light (and a backward bridge):Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:08 pmThis looks amazing! Capri Orange is one of my all-time favorite Fender colors. As much as I enjoy that it's a bit more rare, I also think it would look fantastic on a ton of guitars and I'd love to see it more often too.
Thanks. the mint guards don't work, cream would be almost too warm, white too cold... parchment works! but I'm not a pearloid guy.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 12:10 amSo, is Capri Orange the colour used on late 60s/early 70s Competition Mustangs?
Considering a good friend & old bandmate used to play one, back in the early 90s, I'm surprised I didn't know this already.
It looks great, by the way, especially with the parchment guard. I'm glad you didn't opt for pearloid (which works perfectly on the old Mustangs but can look odd on larger offsets).
i agree 100%, and the tele will look great! but for maple i'd have to wait up to 4 months to get one made (and then pay a tech for a fret job and nut work and finishing and decal...) or buy a rosewood fender neck (no pau ferro allowed). i actually love maple necks more than rosewood.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:47 pmAgreed, that's lovely. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread, but after I discovered the color, I decided to have my Tele Custom (Warmoth) refinished in Capri Orange. One thing that I found is that I personally think it looks better with maple fretboards than rosewood or darker ones.
Though, the best looking Capri Orange guitar I ever saw had what looked like a roasted maple fretboard (or a really light-colored rosewood fretboard).
I hear you. My Tele has been working for a while, and I've always had a maple/rosewood neck on it. After buying my CV JM, I fell in love with 9.5" radius, whereas the Tele currently has a 10-16" compound radius. I'm tempted to buy a new Warmoth roasted maple neck for it, but I've always loved the neck I have too. Decisions, decisions. Haha.hexes wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 12:34 ami agree 100%, and the tele will look great! but for maple i'd have to wait up to 4 months to get one made (and then pay a tech for a fret job and nut work and finishing and decal...) or buy a rosewood fender neck (no pau ferro allowed). i actually love maple necks more than rosewood.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:47 pmAgreed, that's lovely. the neck is what will take the longest. I'll do the body work first with either of my mustang necks as test mules before I commit.
that's exactly what i'm going for. just hope it is still there when I've got the money.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 2:57 amLooking great so far!
For the neck - it may be more than you wanted to spend - but what about an us made fender 65 neck with dots and binding? https://stratosphereparts.com/new-fende ... -4017-821/
ugh. now i'm undecided again. did some illustrator mock-ups and the maple is NICE. i'd have to have it built. such a hard decision.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:34 pmI agree about maple boards looking especially nice in this color. Looking good so far.
