Metallic Bound Lilac Jazzmaster Finished Pg. 2

Post by HNB » Tue Mar 09, 2021 4:46 pm

I got this body yesterday and it arrived today! I haven't seen an MJT body like this before. It was sold to me as Metallic Lilac. It is beautiful! I love everything about it. I even had a guard already and most of the parts. I just need a neck really. I got to work right away squaring the tremolo rout and attaching a classic player tremolo and getting the bridge thimbles and strap buttons on. I wired the pickguard. It has the upper switch as a series/parallel switch. :) I plan on getting some cream covers to better match the binding and knobs, but here is how it looks so far. :)

You’re going to have to wear puffy sleeves to play an axe with this much panache. Possibly a velvet vest.

Looks really good.

This looks great! Your vibrato route adjustment looks very clean. Did you use a chisel?

Yeah. I use a 1 1/2" chisel when I do those corners. :)

Thanks! It is a super unusual color for me. I haven't ever owned anything that color. I thought it was really beautiful and feminine. (Even though I know colors don't work that way.) It reminded me of my grandmothers and their love of pink things in their house and flower pattern decorations. :D

It's a shame you couldn't put a vintage B & B neck on it, one where the blocks are more on the yellower side, like this...

It'd look incredible on that body!

Are you planning on a matching headstock? Matching that finish could be tricky!
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Wow. Real purdy. I'm not a huge fan of pearloid guards but I'm interested to see how this ends up.

Thanks! It might get a bound neck. The only thing I am concerned about is the binding not being the same color. I will have to see. I don't plan on matching the headstock because I don't think I would be able to find the right color and also I don't tend to bond well with matching headstocks for whatever reason. I used to do them a lot, but didn't bond with the guitars. No idea why. :) I think they look cool in pictures, just don't tend to dig them when I have them in hand. I feel like I have owned every competition mustang color aside from orange and I didn't keep any of them. One of my weird quicks I guess. :D Next month is my neck month for this and the Gibbard Jazzmaster. :)
