Has anyone ever created an offset Strat?
This (probably obvious) idea popped into my head today. Has anyone ever taken a Strat body and given it an offset without changing other aspects of it's shape? I figure an offset Strat shape with a JM trem, 3 angled single coils and a blade switch would be a pretty cool guitar.
I went searching and I didn't find much. The closest thing I could find was the CS Brawler baritone model.

Kauer’s Electroliner shape comes to mind.

Re: Has anyone ever created an offset Strat?
Fender did.
So did Alameda Guitars. Probably the only one that did what you said...he literally took a strat and, in his words, "italicized it." The point of the model was to satisfy his own ergonomics - he finds strat saddles unpleasant against the palm, so he wanted a floating Offset-feeling bridge, but with the steeper action and feel of a strat vibrato. I don't think he really expects other people to actually order them, though he will build them if you do.
So did Cort.
And Ibanez
More than once, in fact!
And even Gibson, kinda. Depends whether you consider TOMs or set necks eligible. But it's an offset, with a 5-way switch and coil splits to give SSS Alnico-rod single coils, so...kinda?

Acepro- I have three of these, picked them up for next to nothing. Good bones, great for modding (as is the case with this one).

Hey MBene, thanks for bringing up the Clam Shack! It's exactly what you said, I took a Strat body outline, "italicized" it, modeled it in CAD, and cut it in CNC. I'm really happy how it came out, offset comfy with strat dive-ability.
Note that for complete italicization, I talk to it using my hands, saying "wassa matta you?" and "shut upa you face". And we eat pizza and drink espresso together.
I hope to start making them for sale, but I'm currently in the process of moving so it'll probably be closer to the end of the year before I start shamelessly shilling them.

Fender makes this:

Which I can't tell if I hate or love. The Jazz Strat version (JM pickups and bridge on a strat body) looks much better.

I kind of took the Fender Offset profile and changed a few little things. Also has a Jerry Donahue tele pickup which is very RAWK

Re: Has anyone ever created an offset Strat?
Thanks for all the replies. Truely a lot of takes on this theme that I didn't know about. I don't really feel like anyone got it quite right except for Fender with the Sixty-Six (and they messed up the trem and bridge). The Clam Shack body looks really cool but something is off to me about the pickguard. ♂️

I think the Fender Prodigy is a good example of an offset Strat: https://reverb.com/p/fender-prodigy-1991-1993

I forgot these existed. Flip a Mosrite Venture over and it’s basically an offset Strat body shape.Prodigy wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 6:48 amI think the Fender Prodigy is a good example of an offset Strat: https://reverb.com/p/fender-prodigy-1991-1993

Some beautiful instruments in here. I'm always a sucker for an 1802t/ET-270 style.
My personal favorite example of this, and the $300 purchase I will forever regret not making, is the Godin G-1000:
(really pretty horrendous picture, but it's not mine so I can't complain toooooo much...)
