A couple years back I built a semi-hollow offset for a friend. I did a 3 piece mahogany neck and ended up getting 2 neck blanks out of the glue up. I also had some korina laying around and a preslotted 25" scale fretboard from a failed highschool project.
So obviously I had to build another guitar
I originally planned on doing a 25.5" build when I cut the body so I ended up making a 23 fret when I found the old preslotted board. I'm not sure why I didn't just make the overhang longer and add a 24th fret
This build has been going on in the background over the past few years so I don't have a ton of build pics but heres what I have
Cutting the HS angles for both neck blanks, the TR channels have already been cut at this stage
Ready for trimming
FB glued on and neck carved
Test fit
Neck and body finished and sanded

Re: Custom Offset Build
That is one cool, slick design That faded pickguard really ties it together, it works great with the natural finish. Did you stain it with acid or something?

Yeah, I used an acid meant for fixing scratches in aluminum gun parts. Once the acid had done its work I did a few coats of urethane to seal it all in.epizootics wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 11:53 pmThat is one cool, slick design That faded pickguard really ties it together, it works great with the natural finish. I also did some lighter staining to the pickup ring and knobs since they're aluminum as well.

Some nice things going on here! (I think that 23-fret fingerboard length looks just right for the design FWIW.)
