SHOW ME YOUR BURGUNDY MIST GUITAR

Post by MayTheFuzzBeWithYou » Wed May 26, 2021 9:07 am

In anticipation of my next project (that will hopefully get on track soon) I want to see your Burgundy Mist guitars - and especially your pickguard choices.

Mine will be a (Top Bound) Jaguar so it will probably have some chrome one it - but I might also put brushed steel plates and a Mastery on it... I just don't know yet.
For now I just need to see some nice pics of variations both as both inspiration and justification... because I really do not need another guitar - but the deposit is paid, the battle for a Squier B&B neck is won (still open for a Musikraft or Allparts though - as it would look good on my white VM Jag too - and isn't matching the one Staytrem I got spare) and I'm really looking forward to it.

Right now by thoughts are torn between White, Parchment & Mint, a Spitfire Tort (finally - but there might be better colors to go with) - Black Anodized Aluminum (because I already got one) and maybe even a Anodized Gold guard (but most unlikely) - I also really dig those Indra-Custom guards (and plates) and some of the Decoboom stuff.

All suggestions welcome.

This isn't technically "Burgandy Mist" but it is pretty similar. :)

I must say, a yellowy pearloid could look amazing, especially as a Jaguar guard isn't too big & overpowering. Or I'd just choose parchment.

Unfortunately I have no examples but I'm sure HNB would oblige with more pics of his excellent build above!

Oh yes, Christopher... that thing is gorgeous! :? :-*
On my personal guitar I‘d put a little less (meaning no) pearloid - even if it does look pretty and perfectly fitting on yours... but I already told you that I think!

Keep 'em coming! :w00t:

God. I have a home-built Fender XII that I love, but for some reason... Those MIJ Strat XII's have always interested me. They were so cheap for so long. How do you like yours? Does it sound different than the old/current Fender XII's?

I keep telling myself I need to just do a Strat XII build and if I don't like it, make it a conventional 6 stringer with the hockey stick headstock :)

I actually got it in a package deal with a custom Vibroverb amp. It's really comfortable to play
but I can't really say if it's better or worse sounding than any other Fender XII, I've never had one.
I do love the color and the matching headstock, right up your alley.

I put this one together a couple of years ago. BMM came from Reranch. I also tried a mint guad on it and it looks really good, but settled on black Bakelite pickguard with amp knobs.

Just a slightly different camera angle, and it looks similar to yours, which looks really great! A very tough color to photograph.

A bit too maroon for me but still a nice colour.

A couple of Danocasters. No Jaguar though, unfortunately...

...The parchment guard wins it for me.
