Need a XII in my life! want to help me choose a color? Neck is Warmoth with Ebony fretboard and dots. No binding. Feeling golds lately, should work well with the ebony. Or, suggest something unique!
Matching headstock is decided. Not an option.
Body will be cut and shaped by me from templates. Novak Pickups. bridge will have to be gotoh with faction 5. forgot the toronado bridge won’t allow the thick gotoh saddles.
here’s a neck! needs a quick coat of something to seal it while it sits.

Firemist. It's the best gold Fender does in their CC lineup IMO, though I'm partial to an example a buddy had on an old refin 70s Strat, with this misty kinda silvery gloss coat (it would be a defect in a production, but it looked killer IMO).
I'm also gonna suggest that if you go with gold, go with a more brassy shade and do mixed chrome/brass hardware like PRS does on some of their high-end stuff. With an ebony fretboard, maybe a parchment/black/parchment pickguard and black plastic accents (switch tip, knobs), and if you're feeling really frisky some ebony tuner knobs, it would look incredibly high-end and tasteful.

I read the poll and was going to type "Firemist gold is the best gold option" but I see Harlow basically said that same thing. I'm partial to the darker, slightly oranger, more aged firemist shades, but either way, FMG FTW!

black would be the choice including witch hats on firemist and aztec for sure. shoreline gold to me begs for tortoise guard, and the cream witch hat knobs and dakaware lever.

Have you considered a Musikraft neck? Quality is on par with Warmoth, but headstock dimensions are more accurate.

Nah man, nonsense! I almost went without blocks and binding! George Harrison had a Firemist XII without blocks/binding and so I almost went that way. You gotta post some progress pics for us!

will do. trying to get a reclaimed body blank but the guy is stupendously busy. in the mean time, i’m collecting all the small parts. once the neck arrives i’ll start to add photos.

I never liked any gold guitars.
So I vote sherwood green or OTM I think. Something quite dark.
